38 Weeks Pregnant

38 weeks.jpg

Due Date: April 25, 2017

How far along: 38 weeks

Size of baby: A Winter Melon (approx. 19.6 inches and 6.61 pounds) – according to The Bump app- I love this app by the way! It has some great articles that relate to what you may be experiencing each week. I also love the Ovia app.

About baby: Baby may have about an inch or so of hair already! Did you know that all babies’ eye color are blue, gray or brown at birth? The color will likely change a bit and settle by 1 year of age.

If you have been following along, you may know that baby boy Lane has been breech. Despite acupuncture, chiropractic care, prenatal yoga and all of my funnier efforts including handstands in the pool and lying upside down on an ironing board etc. he did not want to change positions on his own. We even had the version procedure (ECV) at 37 weeks in the hospital and he barely budged with that either!

Read more on the ECV Procedure here… & let’s just say, it wasn’t the most fun experience, but I am glad I gave it a shot.

Because this is my first baby, and there are complications that could come from attempting to birth a first-time breech baby vaginally, my doctor strongly recommended that I have him via C-section, so that’s what we are going to do! Although this is pretty much the farthest thing from my original birth plan of having Lane at a birth center, naturally without any interventions or medications, we have accepted this new path and plan that has been placed before us. It has been a humbling experience realizing that I don’t have quite the control of his birth that I thought I did. I know it will still be beautiful and empowering and we are just so excited to meet him, no matter how he wants to comes into this world!

Maternity clothes: My husband’s t-shirts! 😉

Stretch marks: No stretch marks, that I can see that is 😉 I am still using THE BEST Baby Belly Butter by Nature Bare Body Care. Check out my review here.

Sleep: Sleep is hit or miss. Trying to bank as many hours as possible right now and squeeze in naps when I can. This is easy considering I don’t have any energy whatsoever.

Best moment of this week: Celebrating Easter 🙂

Miss anything: Can’t think of anything this week…I guess I did miss having a mimosa at Easter brunch!

Movement: Still moving quite a bit… He is quite the strong boy now with some powerful kicks and punches and we can’t forget the forceful head movements up into my ribs!

Food cravings: Chocolate and coffee

Anything making you queasy or sick: Contractions and cramping

Gender: BOY

Wedding rings on or off: Wedding band is still on and stays on, but I gave up on my engagement ring.

Mood: Positive and excited! This past week was one of the toughest, (hormones and emotions running wild) but now as I am writing this, I am definitely in a more peaceful, positive place. I have faith that things will happen as they are meant to and am letting go of my fears. It really hit home this week that our lives are about to change completely and that is a lot to take in, but we are so excited for it all. The big day is almost here!

Favorite pregnancy or baby product: Some gifts from family came in the mail this week that I am excited to try out from Natursutten. These natural glass bottles and their highly rated natural rubber newborn pacifier. I have heard great things about this brand. Natursutten® is owned by a mother of three and offers natural products for babies and toddlers. Natursutten wants to make a difference by making parents aware of toxin-free baby products, which ensure a more chemical-free future for our children and for our environment.

Looking forward to: Meeting Baby Lane!!! We love you so much already 🙂

This will be my last update and I wanted to thank you for reading these and for sending your love and support through all of your kind words thus far. It has been so nice to have such a supportive community through Instagram and this blog during my first pregnancy.

Lots of love and good health,

Tasha, The Non-Toxic Newbie

  1. Yep I lived in hubby’s shirts while I was pregnant! I so agree that the shifting of our plans during pregnancy is extremely humbling. I think it’s good preparation for motherhood, since it only becomes more so. You’re getting close now! 😍
