My Current Natural Skin Care Favorites

Mirah Luminous Cleansing Face Oil

july-products_123-1.jpg

This amazing face oil contains Sacred Sandalwood, Jasmine and Rose essential oils to start. It also includes a combo of Jajoba, Sunflower, Grapeseed and Argan oils which remove impurities and unplug pores by dissolving oxidized sebum. These antioxidant rich oils improve skin’s overall texture and appearance with repeated use. Using essential oils on the skin protects the skin the same way they protect the plant against pathogens while helping preserve friendly bacteria. They boost the skin’s quality by removing toxins, delivering nutrients, and stimulating cells.

Have you ever been hesitant to trying oils of any kind on your face because you have oily skin and are afraid it will just cause it to be more oily? That was totally me too, but using oils on my skin has improved it and actually made it less oily over time. Pure oils lubricate the skin so that make up and dirt are gently whisked away but your natural skin oils are left intact. Many conventional cleansers out there have ingredients that are stripping the skin’s moisture and natural oils. The skin then overproduces oil to make up for the loss.

Evan Healy Rose Cleansing Milk

Rose Cleansing Milk pairs the creaminess of a plant-milk with the lightly lathering action of natural yucca root creating a nourishing, effective and deep cleansing product. This skin-balancing formula effectively draws impurities out of tiny dermal pores leaving skin exquisitely clean. Daily use softens and loosens the hardened waxy deposits that are blackheads. Adding plant oils and floral waters to the skin restores vitality, balances hydration and refines pores resulting in skin that is soft, supple and resilient.

This cleansing milk was such a pleasant surprise as I wouldn’t normally gravitate to a cleansing milk, but this leaves my skin so hydrated and soft. I love the lotion like consistency and the floral smell. Key ingredients include aloe vera, shea butter, honeysuckle, rose oil, calendula and sunflower oil.

Farmacy Honey Potion Face Mask

This hydrating and warming face treatment nourishes and revitalizes the skin for a glowing, smooth complexion. An intensely moisturizing combination of honey (a natural humectant used since ancient times), propolis (a healing antiseptic found in beehives) and amino acid-rich royal jelly, it enhances skin renewal for young appearance.

This mask totally threw me off the first time I used it because I didn’t realize it was warming and it was such a strange sensation. But now I’m almost addicted to the warming feeling and the mask leaves my skin feeling so healthy, hydrated and soft afterwards.

Crunchy Mama Bear “Tired As A Mother” Organic Coffee Eye Cream

Tired

This eye cream has been a lifesaver for my tired mama eyes. It helps with puffiness and dark circles and smells amazing, that is if you’re obsessed with the smell of coffee like I am. Just a little dab goes a long way, so my current jar has lasted a really long time. It’s not greasy, but still super moisturizing and is quickly absorbed by the delicate skin under the eyes. My concealer glides on perfectly over this too! Ingredients: organic shea, argan, hemp seed oil, coconut oil, avocado, olive oil, fair trade coffee, jajoba, vitamin e, carrot seed oil, mooseberry, and rosemary seed extract.

Coconut Lime Replenishing Body Butter

This body butter is so heavenly. Using a deeply indulgent formula, this natural body butter nourishes and smooths skin with help from two fruit seed butters: mango and cupuacu butter. Mango butter includes emollients that help soften and soothe skin, while cupuacu butter contains fatty acids that help skin maintain a youthful appearance.

The combination of these butters and other plant-based ingredients creates a non-greasy body butter that’s perfect for areas that need extra love and moisturizing. This coconut oil body butter is fragranced with the natural scent of coconut oil and Lime essential oil to create a warm, tropical aroma that offers a mini-getaway every time you apply this essential oil body butter. I think it smells like a Mojito!

Rustic Maka Balance Antioxidant Serum

A freshly prepared, botanical infusion of soothing blooms of Calendula and Chamomile, along with skin-balancing, plant-based oils create this light, vitamin-rich facial serum to restore a youthful glow, seal moisture in and revive the skin.

This fast-absorbing antioxidant formula, penetrates deep, delivering omega fatty acids and vitamins in a nourishing blend of Apricot, Camellia and Moringa oils specifically selected to soothe, harmonize and rejuvenate dry to normal skin. Restorative powers of Plum and Camellia oils drench and infuse the skin with highly concentrated Vitamin A and E. A silky application makes this serum an ideal companion for dull, stressed skin.

As I already mentioned above, using oils on my face has been a complete game changer for my skin. I use this serum after cleansing and sometimes add additional essential oils to it. It’s fast absorbing, moisturizing, and nourishing giving my skin exactly what it needs.

My Favorite Essential Oils for Skin:

Frankincense

Frankincense has the ability to strengthen skin and improve its tone, elasticity, defense mechanisms against bacteria or blemishes, and appearance as someone ages. It may help tone and lift skin, reduce the appearance of scars and acne, and heals wounds. It may also be beneficial for fading of stretch marks, surgery scars or marks associated with pregnancy, and for healing dry or cracked skin. It has truly done wonders for improving the appearance of my c-section scar. I have applied neat before or I will sometimes apply mixed with coconut oil.

According to a review published in the Journal of Traditional and Complementary Medicine, frankincense oil reduces redness and skin irritation, while also producing a more even skin tone. Studies suggest that it’s the pentacyclic triterpene (steroid-like) structure of frankincense oil that contributes to its soothing effect on irritated skin.

Lavender

Most likely due to its antimicrobial and antioxidant characteristics, lavender essential mixed with a carrier oil (like coconut, jojoba or grapeseed oil) has profound benefits on your skin.

Using lavender oil topically can help to improve a number of skin conditions, from canker sores to allergic reactions, acne and age spots. Its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties help to ease skin conditions and reverse signs of aging.

Manuka

Manuka essential oil has cicatrisant properties meaning that it is an effective way to heal damaged skin and scarring. It is useful in treating acne due to antibacterial and skin healing properties. The oil can promote the growth and regeneration of new cells while protecting any wounds from developing infection.

Copaiba

One of the most notable and popular health benefits of copaiba essential oil is derived from its astringent property. Copaiba’s active components tighten the skin, which can help the skin look younger, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and even strengthen the skin to prevent lesions or wounds as the body ages.

Copaiba essential oil contains large amounts of beta-caryophyllene, a molecule that interacts with cannabinoid receptors in your skin. This causes skin cells to produce beta-endorphin, one of the happiness hormones.

Beta-caryophyllene is also a potent anti-inflammatory agent and copaiba is one of the safest oils to use on the skin. It can be very useful in healing, soothing irritation and treating chronic skin disease.

I incorporate these oils into my skin care routine by combining with witch hazel in a spray bottle for a DIY face toner, adding a drop to my serum or a carrier oil like Rose Hip Oil and massaging on my face and neck after cleansing or by adding them to my own DIY body butters or body oils.

Thanks for checking out my current skincare favorites! I just ordered some brand new skin care products this week to start trying so stay tuned for my next round up of favorites in a few months!

Lots of love and good health,

Tasha, The Non-Toxic Newbie
